Summer has begun

Grant Awarded

Seeds for Success Program

Thanks to the Robert & Eleanor Franke Charitable Foundation, a supporting organization of the La Crosse Community Foundation,  has awarded Grow La Crosse a grant to help connect children to healthy food and nature. The Franke Foundation is a supporting organization that lends a hand to many local organizations trying to make a difference in today’s world. We appreciate their support of our Seeds for Success program.

Making a Thursday Night Meal for Their Families

This program allows 36 children from the Boys and Girls Club the opportunity to harvest and prepare their own healthy meals for a whole week by using a full seed-to-table approach. We are hopeful that a camp like this will not only fight food insecurity, but also give them an opportunity to make healthy choices they might not otherwise have.

We are excited to take part in Hillview Urban Agriculture Center’s Annual Bountiful Gardens Tour this summer

The Grow La Crosse Hamilton/SOTA I garden is an urban garden. Although it’s in a small space, a lot of produce is grown.

Coming up in July, Hillview UAC will be showcasing thirteen private and public vegetable gardens in the La Crosse area through an interactive tour. Hillview is a non-profit working to provide the community with education and access to healthy, local food. Their aim is to create a sustainable food system that benefits everyone in the La Crosse community. This tour is a great way to collaborate with experienced gardeners and to share ideas and inspiration about vegetable gardens. Different techniques such as edible landscapes, square-foot gardening, and lasagna gardening will all be exhibited!

Saturday, July 22nd.  See here for details.
