Intern Highlights and Open Hoop House Times
Our spring interns are entering their final week here at Grow. We appreciate all their hard work while working in the gardens, teaching school lessons, helping at special events, and aiding in communications and marketing. We went and asked the interns what their favorite parts of the semester were, and here were their responses:
Megan Salvin. “I have had such an amazing experience this past semester with GROW La Crosse! It has been so much fun putting on pollinator lessons for the kids and teachers at State Road Elementary. My favorite part of this intern experience has been all of the connections I have made with people in our community. Everyone has been beyond supportive of me and GROW La Crosse and it just showed me what an impact this organization has had. From garden work parties and in class lessons to board meetings and the plant sales, I have been able to meet so many wonderful people who help make GROW La Crosse what it is today.”

Shelby Roberts. “Grow La Crosse is such a wonderful, pervasive organization in the La Crosse area. It was an immense pleasure getting to work with them this semester and be a part of their amazing mission! Working with their websites and blogs was a wonderful opportunity for me to expand my communications skills and graphic design abilities. I wish nothing but the best for Grow in the future and thank them for aiding in my future career growth.”
Shelby worked at the communications and marketing intern, writing blogs and Facebook posts for Grow.
Spencer Garcia. “I’ve loved the willingness of students to learn and try new things with our lessons! The kids genuinely enjoy the garden and eating fresh vegetables which is so great to me.”
Spencer was a huge help in the gardens and at school lessons. He recently tabled at the plant sales.

Plant Sales and Open Hoop House Times
The plant sales went well, but we still have some plants left.
Come to our open Hoop House times at the end of this week. We still have a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, flowers and pollinator plant starts.

The Grow La Crosse State Road Garden is located on the east side of the building.
Thank you to all volunteers, participants, parents, and kids who have already came and supported our plant sales. We had locations at State Road Elementary, Hamilton/SOTA I school, Myrick Park, and we ended the week off with a bang at Harry Spence’s garden party. Thank you everyone who supported bringing healthy food and education to our community!
