2.8.24 Beyond the classroom

Greenhouse Field Trip Season

The greenhouse is popping with green and filled with enthusiasm as we kick-off greenhouse field trip season. Over the next two months roughly 1000 students will dive into urban agriculture with the hands-on greenhouse field experience.

After the Hamilton 4th and 5th grade class joined us for the first visit of the year the School District of La Crosse had this to say, “GROW’s hands-on programming continues to be a game-changer for our students, offering top-notch experiences that go beyond the classroom. From gardens and farms to the cutting-edge greenhouse at Western Technical College, our partnership with GROW is opening doors to a world of knowledge.  We are officially embarking on the winter field trip season, where the focus is on greenhouse-growing methods. Think hydroponics, aquaponics, vertical gardening, and potted plants – we’re covering it all! We’re delving into the fascinating differences in pollination between greenhouses and outdoor environments, exploring the crucial role of pollinators like bees.  But that’s not all. Our students had a hands-on experience, transplanting their very own basil plants to take home. Plus, a taste test of microgreens and greenhouse-grown produce added a flavorful twist to the day.  A big #WeAreLaCrosse thank you to GROW for providing our kids with this enriching experience. Stay tuned for more updates as we nurture curiosity and growth together!”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.  We are beyond excited to share these opportunities with the community.
