Summer on the Farm

“They’re so small and soft!” – Archie, a farm camp participant when holding baby chicks

The focus of last week’s farm camp was writing. Children learned everything from writing creative poetry and short stories to forming scientific hypotheses. Some of the short stories featured different super heroes on the farm as everyone was adventurous with their work. Everyone was also given the opportunity to learn about and care for the horses, chickens, and other animals on the farm. One of the highlights enjoyed by all was holding the new baby chicks.

Thank you to all donors who helped make registration for this year’s farm camps entirely free!

 GROW is Growing!

WisCorps volunteers with Summer Intern Marne Boehm

We are excited to announce a new garden is currently being installed at Gundersen Child Care Center. Our Maintenance Director, Linda, has been working hard on this project. This past week garden construction began including installing raised beds and planting perennials around the outside edges. We are so grateful to the students from WisCorps who have been helping with this task as it makes the job a lot easier.

The garden will be completed by mid-July just in time to start summer lessons with the children at Gundersen! This opportunity to expand our mission to more children throughout the area would not be possible without everyone’s support, and we are so thankful.
