Wednesday Night Fun
Wednesdays from 5pm-7pm is Family Harvest Night at the Grow La Crosse Hamilton/SOTA I school garden. This is great way for the whole family to help out, learn more about gardening, and take home some fresh vegetables! Last Wednesday we had a great turnout and all the helpers were able to leave with basil, kale, cucumbers and much more. If you are looking for something fun for the whole family to do on Wednesday nights, all are welcome!
Summer on the Farm
As August rolls around, GROW is hosting two Summer on the Farm camps before the school year starts again. Summer on the Farm gives kids the time to enjoy the outdoors and get a hands-on learning experience.
Last week at Deep Roots Community Farm, the kids spend the week enjoying the sunshine, journaling, and gardening. Instructors Josh and Kristen directed the campers on how to measure temperature and humidity levels. A highlight for all the campers was getting to splash around the creek!
Food for Everyone
Our gardens are growing especially well this summer and we have more fruits and veggies than ever before!
If your garden is producing an excess of produce, food pantries like The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse, The Salvation Army, and Wafer gladly accept donations from gardens. This is great way to help out the community and ensure everyone in the area gets fresh, healthy food.
