Please send your children dressed in clothes that can get dirty, close-toed shoes, and a sunhat. Long pants in a comfortable weight fabric are best. We have been enjoying splashing in the creek in the afternoon. If you’d like, you could have your child wear a swimsuit under their clothes and send a towel for drying off afterwards.
Campers should bring lunch and a snack each day. Refrigeration is not available
Please send a full water bottle with each camper.
Do not bring your child to camp if he/she has a fever, nausea, persistent cough or other contagious condition.
All programs are subject to change.
Cancellations:
Cancellations 14 or more days before starting date of camp will be refunded minus a $20 fee per camp and camper. Cancellations within 13 days will not be refunded.
GROW La Crosse reserves the right to cancel programs in case of insufficient registrations (min. 18 kids).
Weather:
Camp will go on rain or shine. If it is raining, we will meet and work in the horse barn, and do crafts in the arena area.
GROW La Crosse reserves the right to cancel program days due to inclement weather. These days will not be refunded since supplies, staff and insurance has been paid for that day. In an emergency, camp leaders will make every effort to notify participants by email, website and phone. All of these assume that all or some participants have access to electricity and phones.
When the camp leaders are unable to notify participants of the closure, participants are asked to use common sense and make their best assessment of the safety in traveling to and from camp or attending camp.
Drop off and Pick up:
In the morning, we will wait 15 minutes past the drop-off time to accommodate slightly late arrivals. 15 minutes after the scheduled drop-off time, we may begin hiking or other activities which can occur far away from the drop-off site.
In the afternoon, parents are expected to pick up their children in a timely manner, with proper identification. In the event that a camper is picked up more than 30 minutes late from a camp, the occasion will result in an additional $50 late fee, as will any subsequent late pickup of more than 30 minutes.
Behavior:
GROW reserves the right to dismiss a child for consistent behavior that makes it difficult or impossible for the staff to meet his/her needs and/or the needs of other children in the group. This will occur without a refund (or portion thereof) or credit towards a future program. This will occur only after parent/staff discussion has occurred.
Electronics:
GROW strives to provide a program free from video games, cell phones, audio players, toys and other distractions. Please do not permit your child to bring any of these items to camp. We will be busy throughout the camp day and these items also tend to get lost or misplaced when brought to camp.
Injury/Theft:
The parent/guardian is responsible for any medical expenses or transportation costs related to a camper’s illness, accident or departure from the program. In addition, GROW is not responsible for theft, loss or damage to personal property.
Sunscreen and Bug Spray:
We will do everything possible to protect our campers from excessive exposure to the sun and excessive bug bites, while still allowing them to get the most out of our outdoor games and activities. Parents/guardians who would like to use sunscreen and bug spray are responsible for applying the first layer prior to drop-off and dressing their child(ren) in appropriately protective attire. This is especially important for children with sun sensitivities. If parents/guardians would like their child to put on additional sunscreen or bug spray, then place these items in a sealed plastic bag and labeled with the child’s first and last name.
Medications and Allergies:
Make sure to list all allergies on the registration form. If your child requires an epi pen, make sure to bring with them each day.
Medications should not be brought to camp unless absolutely necessary during the time of camp or if the child is allergic to something that requires an epi pen. If your child does need medication between the hours of camp, the following rules must be followed:
Medications brought to camp MUST be given to the camp session leader right at the start of camp. All prescription medications MUST be in the original container with the camper’s name, name of medication, and directions clearly marked on the pharmacy label. Medication with no identification and directions WILL NOT be given.
