School garden lessons are one of the most effective ways in getting children to try new fruits and vegetables to change eating habbits for a lifetime.
Therefore, one of our main focuses is our school garden program.
Our involvement with school gardens includes:
- Offering hands-on garden education sessions
- Helping to plan, build and maintain gardens
- Getting fresh produce into cafeteria and classroom snacks
- Teaching garden-based science lessons that connect to the curriculum
- Doing taste tests with children
- Raising and acquiring funds to keep the programs running
We have gardens at the following schools:
- Emerson Elementary
- Hamilton Elementary
- Hintgen Elementary
- La Crescent-Hokah Elementary
- Northside / Coulee Montessori
- North Woods International
- School of Technology and Arts
- Southern Bluffs Elementary
- Spence Elementary
- State Road Elementary
