We offer field trips and farm camps at Deep Roots Community Farm (DRCF) in La Crosse. The farm is 12 miles from downtown La Crosse. DRCF is a 170 acre farm in La Crosse that follows organic and sustainable farming practices.

Ana Skemp, M.S. Ecology
Ana Skemp’s background in biology/ecology allows the participants to learn about the biology of the natural world around them. For example, participants practice identifying native plant and animal species on hikes in the woods and by the creek, talk about conserving native pollinators, and learn how plants turn sun into energy during photosynthesis.
Jeni is a mother of 3, a lifelong artist and owner of the local art studio, Inspired. Her passion for teaching and love of nature make for some really fun artsy days on the farm!
Lila Planavsky, M. Education
Lila is currently a teacher at Summit Environmental School. Based on her background teaching in an EBD Special Education Program in urban Milwaukee, Lila Planavsky incorporates team building, problem solving, and respectful communication into every session.
Josh Wolcott, M. Education and M.A. Art
Josh is a Lead Teacher for School of Technology and Art, School District of La Crosse. Josh also teaches summer school at the Grow La Crosse school garden at State Road Elementary School and Cooking Classes at the YMCA. If you see the outdoor oven at camp, Josh helped build that!
Jamie O’Neill, M.S. Community Health Education
Jamie is a program director at Grow La Crosse’s State Road School garden. Jamie has taught at summer camps for over 8 years and has a passion for getting children outside. She studied healthy eating with children and wrote a garden curriculum during her masters program.
