7.7.26 Farm Camp Last Chance • Garden Party • Volunteer • GROW & Gather Invite
| Last Call for Farm Camp July is full of farm visits from students from all over the region. Don’t miss the opportunity to have your child be one of them! Registration is open through Sunday, July 12th for the July 14th – 16th farm camp. This month we host Farm Camp with many collaborations. Through partnership with the School District of La Crosse Boys and Girls Club groups are starting each week in July with visits to the farm. Students are engaged and enthusiastic about the chance to tend to animals and explore the creek while at the farm. A “Learn to Live Local” camp partnership supported by the La Crosse Community Foundation, People’s Food Coop and Deep Roots Community Farm allows participants to spend a day of their camp learning about sustainability through the lens of local food systems at the farm. The camp next week is the last session with openings. Sign up today! This event is FREE and open to all. Bonus activities at this garden party include a garden themed story time at 5:30 led by the amazing librarians from the La Crescent Public Library, as well as an opportunity to meet Ms. Cassellius the new elementary school principal. Whether your child attends school in La Crescent or if you just want to check out a garden at another school, we can’t wait to see you in the garden! Thank you Garden Volunteers! Tending to 9 garden takes a team. We are grateful to the community members who have chipped in so far this summer. We could still use more help! If you’ve considered volunteering, here’s what you need to know… 1. The GROW team will provide an orientation to volunteers of any skill level to learn where the water source, tools and supplies are at the garden to get you started. 2. Volunteers get a weekly email with details to help guide your work… will it be extra hot, so the plants need extra water…. will it rain, so we need to focus on weeds… The email will be your guide, and our staff is always ready to support any questions volunteers have. 3. Each garden has an online sign up, so you can choose the dates and times that work for you! The goal is to have someone in each garden every other day. 4. Volunteers make an incredible difference in our ability to grow, harvest and educate in school gardens, whether you can help a little or a lot we are SO grateful for you. 5. Sign up on our Volunteer Interest form to get started: GROWLaCrosse.org/volunteer-2/ ![]() You are invited to a fun and fulfilling night out! |
