2.13.25 Chemistry in the Greenhouse
500 Students in 4 weeks During the first four weeks of the 2025 field trip season we have already had 500 students participate! Students put their classroom science learning into action through hands-on activities. They check the PH levels of the hydroponic growing system, test soil for Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium levels, create model landforms while learning about how plants prevent erosion and much, much more. Before the end of March another 1000+ students will explore plants and healthy foods through the lens of young scientists during their greenhouse field trips. |

They also provide tours for all of our field trip participants throughout the campus, so that students can learn about potential career paths and the unique sustainability initiatives on campus.UW Extension Food WIse and Farm to School representatives provide nutrition education and taste tests for many of our field trip groups. Working alongside community partners with shared visions for a healthier community allows all of us to make a greater impact.
