Cultural Connections Lessons

Wisconsin Representative Billings comes to GROW!
On Monday, November 18th, Rep. Billings was a special visitor to the 4th and 5th graders at State Road Elementary.

Rep. Billings joined the Cultural Connections Presentations. Ho-Chunk Speaker, Kjetil Garvin was the guest presenter.

This lesson helps to connect the students with other cultures in our area. There will be an introduction to Ho-Chunk culture, a presentation of multi-lingual action words and annual plant names, as well as the medicinal use of perennial plants.

Thank you to the La Crosse Community Foundation for making this extra lesson possible!  Thank you also to the press that helped us share this great story: WIZM, The LaCrosse Tribune, WXOW & WKBT.

GivingTuesday

GROW is able to connect children with healthy food and nature because we have great supporters.  As the season of giving is upon us we wanted to share a couple of easy ways for you to support GROW’s mission. First, mark your calendars for GivingTuesday, December 3rd.  GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement encouraging people to do good to transform their communities.  Watch our Facebook page for more information as the date approaches.  Funds donated through Facebook have the potential to be matched.
Amazon Wishlist

People often ask how they can donate materials to GROW.  We are always in need of supplies to help teach lessons and maintain the gardens.  In order to make it easy for you to purchase items we set up an Amazon Wishlist.  Click the link on the right to shop.  Remember to change the shipping address to GROW, P.O.Box 1241, La Crosse, WI  54602.  Thank you for your generosity!

What do you love about GROW?

“I love grow because I believe nature has the most amazing lessons to teach all of us, and integrating nature education at such a young age will encourage appreciation and wonder in children, and hopefully, for the rest of their lives!”

Thank you for all of your great work so far!
