Celebration!

Last Saturday, GROW had the amazing opportunity to host our wonderful donors and sponsors at Hackberries for a night of food, fun, and appreciation! Our guests were treated to a main course of homemade soup created by Liz who makes the soups for the People’s Food Coop and Hackberries.  Kristin Miller, also made a great batch of sweet potato chicken soup.  Sides were created to show our past recipe demonstrations that we do with the children.

The night concluded with fun games and conversations with friends. Huge thanks to all those at the Food Coop that donated the space.  Also, a big thank you to Heather Young from Thrivent Financial who used her Action Team to buy the food for the event.  An equal thanks to all those who attended and made the night as spectacular as it was. Here’s to another year of amazing progress with amazing people.

Appreciation Video

The night went on to showcase an appreciation video. The video showed exactly what GROW stands for and how it makes their mission statement a reality: connecting children to gardens and the outdoors.

Thank you to all the stars of the movie.

Good news from the FoodCorps

The awesome news just keeps coming this week! FoodCorps is a nonprofit organization that works in high-need schools to provide better food programs. This month, they’ve put out their progress data that showed—through primary research—students with hands on food experience will eat three times as of fruit and vegetables then students who receive less hands-on learning.

That’s huge! And it shows just how influential and important programs and organizations like GROW La Crosse are to maintaining a healthy generation. Check out their article to find out more.
