Healthy Minds

Healthy Soil

Our theme this year for garden lessons is GROWing Healthy Minds, Bodies and Soil.

Our first lesson is healthy soil. We are doing a soil and compost study and learn how healthy soil benefits the plants.

We will be doing these lessons at all GROW schools this year: State Road School, Hamilton/SOTA I schools, Hintgen, La Crescent and Coon Valley and Gundersen Childcare.

Edible Schoolyard Fundraiser

This is GROW’s final reminder to our GROW family of our Pints, Proceeds, and Produce fundraiser for the Edible Schoolyard Project. Please join us in making local produce more accessible to our students and community!

The event is being held at Pearl Street Brewery on Saturday, April 6th from 6pm to 9pm and will include raffle drawings for some great prizes, arcade games, a bonfire, live music, and delicious food for purchase!

Hoop House Volunteer Day

As some may know, GROW’s hoop house collapsed over the winter. This wonderful group helped take down the hoop house this past Sunday, and now we need YOUR help in rebuilding the space.

Join us on Sunday, April 14th from 1pm to 3pm at State Road Elementary for our Hoop House Volunteer Day #2. We will be bending and putting up poles and wood siding.

Please dress for the weather and bring a water bottle. If you have work gloves and a power drill, please bring those too. We will be taking down any remaining part of the hoop house and then starting to rebuild.

Also note:
There will not be an open bathroom on site.
Children are welcome to come and play on the playground.
