10.18.2023 Announcing the Kids Cooking Challenge Winners

The Kids Cooking Challenge Results

Congratulations to all of the nearly 100 of the Kids Cooking Challenge participants for making the choice to explore healthy foods.  Thirty of those teams and individuals completed the 6th Kids Cooking Challenge with amazing results!  It was nearly impossible for our judges to chose just four winners for this event as the competition was fierce.  All of the young chefs should be very proud of themselves.

 The winners are: 
 Advanced 12 and under:
Chef Rebekah, Grilled Duck with Cranberries, Roasted Veggies, and Apple Matchstick, Walnut & Goat Cheese Salad

Advanced 12 and under:
Dynamic Duo, Shrimp & Veggie Risotto

Beginner 12 and under:
Allie DeGier, Tex-Mex Zucchini Boats with Brown Rice Carrot Medley

Beginner 12 and under:
Chef Roy, Festive Fried Rice
Everyone wins when you combine healthy ingredients and kids in the kitchen.  To see images of all of the recipes submitted go to our website.  You will see the talent, pride and confidence in the entries.  You just might get a few recipe ideas too!

Special Thanks to the Viterbo Dietetic students for sharing their time and talent to judge this event.  It is not an easy task to take on!We also want to share our appreciation for all of those who have donated to sponsor a young chef and our event sponsors.  Thank you to Mayo Health System, Strive 2 Thrive Coulee Region and Festival Foods.
The generosity of these donors allow us to provide mystery ingredients free of charge to any participant who needed that support, we were also able to include groups of students at the Boys and Girls Club of La Crosse, North Side Elementary School, The Salvation Army and The Good Fight Club.

Together we were able to connect event more youth in our region to healthy food.
