Connecting children to healthy food and nature
Community Crops
GROW is partnering with local food organizations and the La Crosse School District Lunch Distribution program for the Community Crops Project.

Community Crops Project will provide families with free plant starts.  The Local Food Groups wants to increase the amount of local food grown at any time, but especially this year.

GROW asked interested families to grow seeds.  We provided seeds, cups and soil through funding of Thrivent Action Teams and the La Crosse Public Education Foundation.  Next week, May 11-15, these seedlings will be handed out at the free lunch sites. Other local food groups will be distributing at these sites along with other locations.

Read more about who is collaborating on this project like Kane Street Community Garden, Onalaska School Gardens, La Crescent Community Garden and Extension La Crosse County.

If you have extra seedlings that you would like to donate, please contact Haley Brata barta.haley@uwlax.edu for a time and location for drop-off.
Thank you to all the volunteers who are growing seed starts!
