10.29.2020 Cultural Connections Thank You & Only Two More Days
Thank You Cultural Connections Guest Speakers Our neighbors Boa Xiong & family, PaHoua Vang, Puja Metah and Leila A. gave students insight into different cultural growing practices and recipes during our fall “Cultural Connections Lessons”. We are grateful for the richness these speakers brought to our fall lessons. Students were able to learn about cultures other than their own and some students felt the pride of having classmates learn more about their own cultural backgrounds. Thank you to each of our guest speakers for your contributions to these lessons! |
Double Your Impact TODAY! Our Dollar for Dollar Matching event wraps up this week. With only two days to go we still need to raise another $1,100 to get the full impact of the matching funds. Kujak Orthodontics will generously match all donations made to GROW before October 30th up to $2,500! Fall Cultural Connections lessons will reach over 1,600 children. We need your help to fund these lessons. Please donate and share to help us reach our goal. |
Intern Spotlight Meet Jordan, Garden Intern! Jordan is a student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, majoring in Public Health, Community Health Education. She comes to us from her hometown of Stoughton, WI with a background of community garden work and family farming. We are excited to have Jordan working with GROW. When asked, why GROW Jordan shared, “I choose GROW because I loved the idea of kids being able to see the whole cycle of food to table. Coming from a farm this was second knowledge but for most, they don’t actually see their food grow or know what it looks like or how it happens. GROW provides this opportunity for so many kids who wouldn’t otherwise get the chance.” Jordan’s goal this year is to help students understand how awesome and rewarding it is to grow your own healthy food! We are happy to be working with Jordan! |
